4 out of 5 stars cost too much   September 8, 2010

I paid 300 dollars two years ago for this product at sam's club, this year it was offered for 479.00 with free shipping. 599.00 is a ripoff.

1 out of 5 stars Electric Scooter   July 28, 2010

I wanted to use the 1000 electric scooter for short rides from a campground.
It worked fine within one mile.
Then on a second trip, the battery died less than two miles from the camp, even though it was fully charged.
To avoid getting stranded again, I have retested the battery power and find it to be far short of the claimed 12 mile range.

If you are only traveling a few blocks, you might be ok. But do not try distances over two miles.

Hopefully someday a manufacturer will create a reliable electric scooter capable of doing 12 miles.

2 out of 5 stars NOT a "new and improved Schwinn Stealth 1000"   July 13, 2010

I bought this ezip 1000 when my beloved Schwinn Stealth 1000 was stolen. I emailed CurrieTech and asked if the new and improved drive train specifically had the same gearing as the Schwinn because I loved the torque and hill climbing ability of the Schwinn. They pulled an Obama on me and refused to give me a direct answer. They would only say that "you'll like the new one". I don't!!! After following the specific charging instructions and using the ezip for a week, I am still getting 3/4 the speed that the Schwinn got and 1/2 or less the distance. I easily got 15 miles on the schwinn but this "new and improved" model gives me 6 at best. After 2 miles the charge indicater goes to medium and 2 miles after that it turns red. Pathetic for a $500 scooter. The "new and improved" drivetrain bogs down on hills (something the Stealth 1000 never did) and top speed is 10 MPH on a full charge. You can feel it drop as the battery wears down. The Stealth 1000 gave me full power right to the end. The ergonomics are new too. Non adjustable seat and it's closer to the handlebars. It feels like you're hanging onto those "ape hangers" like they had on the old Schwinn stingrays. Don't fall for the hype. This is NOT an improved model. It totally sucks. Oh yeah, the disc brakes rub and drag and are impossible to adjust. In fact, they recommend you take it to a professional to have the brakes adjustable. Unacceptable!! A customer should be able to service something as simple as a brake. Customer service has not responded to 4 emails. Mega bummer.

3 out of 5 stars May I Suggest a better alternitive ?   May 14, 2010

I have owned two e zips. Both of them where OK scooters but for less than $500.00 you can own a Super Turbo 800watt Elite 36 volt scooter sold by "super Cycles & Scooters. It's far superior to any of the e zips. Brushless motor,Three disk brakes better suspension system front and rear with two rear shocks fully adjustable, head light and a fully adjustable seat. I could continue to go on and on but I suggest you at least check it out at "Super Cycles & Scooters". It's for sale on Amazon.com if you prefer. I own two of these scooters and I am in no way affiliated with the manufacture or seller of this product. Just an extremely satisfied customer! May God bless you and yours. Happy and safe riding.

5 out of 5 stars this is the best scooter much much then all ezip scooters that i own   February 23, 2010

The ezip 1000 front and rear suspension is a definite plus as it makes typical road and sidewalk expansion joints un-noticeable. Even speed bumps can be taken sitting down if you slow your speed to a reasonable level. Quality is very good and the design is well thought-out. Safety is also very good and the brakes are excellent. I agree with the age restriction placed on this by the manufacturer as it is not a child's toy but a motorized bike (of sorts). Teens would have no difficulty with this and can use it for any type of travel that a bike would normally be used for (within a 6 mile radius). I would invest in a good lock however since the interest level is typically very high and I get numerous questions and comments when I ride it. I see this as a very practical and useful transportation device that is also very fun to use,I have found myself using it far more than I imagined. The scooter folds up easily so I am able to put it in my car and use it in a variety of places and on various terrains.....it runs great on sidewalks, concrete, grass, and dirt.and the scooter provides plenty of power and zip. Riding the scooter is very smooth and it's easy to steer thanks to the full suspension. Additionally, the scooter is very quiet,so please know if you buy this scooter you will be more then happy with it,you do not have to get the super turbo 800w.
I have this scooter for 4 months with no problem, the ezip 1000 its way way better stronger and very very comfterble ride more then any extreme scooters or ezip scooters,I am 140lb and i ride with the ezip 1000 16+MPH that really feel 20MPH,i ride with the scooter every day around 25 mile a day,and how do i do that-every 10 mile i charge it 2-3 hours no more and then again i ride 10 mile, and i charge it befor the battery starts being slow this way the charge is very fast,i relly anjoy so much the ride ,I am telling you buy the ezip 1000 and you be relly happy with it you see,i ride with it with top speed of 17+MPH the ezip 1000 fill 20MPH you see, do you self a favore buy this one or the super turbo 800w scooter and you be more then happy with them, the best of the best scooter highly highly racommend it...i bought also one for my friend that weights 252lb and the ezip 1000 takes him 15MPH with no problem...I bought from amazon and i got it in the next day thank you amazon
